Dr. Fernandes' description of how he came to this perspective is pretty similar to mine. I read every passage in the Bible related to the day of the Lord and the day of Christ, thought about them, and realized that I no longer believed in a pre-trib rapture. I thought maybe I was a heretic or something, but a little research showed me that what I had come to believe is actually the oldest Christian eschatology--historic premillenialism.

I don't know much about Dr. Fernandes beyond this message. The statement of faith on his website (http://www.biblicaldefense.org/) looks good. To some, this probably sounds like a good thing - preschool can be expensive, so state-provided preschool might seem like a blessing.

I think it is a dangerous thing to allow the state to force parents to put their four or even three-year-olds in state schools. Children need to be with their parents. Already, kindergarteners in some parts of the country are being taught that homosexuality is acceptable and even good. Do we really want the children of our nation being indoctrinated with anti-biblical teachings at even younger ages?

I know the main argument is that an earlier start will make for smarter, better-performing kids in the long run. I don't believe it. What this attitude is really saying is that parents are incapable of teaching three and 4-year-olds what they need to know, so they should hand their kids over to professionals.

Parents, you can teach your 4-year-old whatever she needs to know at that age. Sure, send your child to (Christian) preschool--he or she might like it, and it might give you a little break, but it won't take the place of you teaching your child.

Rather than expecting the state to solve our problems for us, let's embrace the responsibility God has given us to raise our own children.

Host: Albert Mohler
Page: http://www.albertmohler.com/radio_show.php?cdate=2007-09-28
Audio File: http://www.sbts.edu/MP3/totl/2007/AMP_09_28_2007.mp3http://krohse.com/metoo/2007/10/problem-of-mandatory-preschool-albert.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Joshua Krohse)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23225492.post-3188538153621273104Mon, 03 Sep 2007 03:49:00 +00002008-04-18T16:47:04.613-05:00sufferingsovereigntyFaresedisabilityJohn FareseThe Sovereignty of God - John FareseOn the off chance that you have not seen this already on Eric Schumacher's blog (or wherever he found it), please take a few minutes to watch this video. Mark is the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle. His style is different than most of what I listen to--a little funnier.

That said, his topic is very, very important. How should we approach reading Scripture? We must interpret the Bible from within the context of a church. We must kneel under its authority, not stand on it. We must read it intending and expecting to be transformed. We must read the Bible more relationally than functionally--we want to know the God who is speaking more than we want to know what He says about having happy marriages.

And that's how Pastor Driscoll gets started. In this 76-minute sermon (that's right--never complain again!), he gives us point after point of strategy and caveats for reading and studying Scripture.

I recommend this sermon highly.

Author: Mark Driscoll
Audio Link: Studied By Scripturehttp://krohse.com/metoo/2007/08/bending-under-word-how-to-be-studied-by.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Joshua Krohse)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23225492.post-3809792579293876883Sat, 11 Aug 2007 19:47:00 +00002008-04-18T16:47:53.778-05:00youthyouth pastorparentsyouth ministrybauchamchildrenvoddieThe Centrality of the Home - Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr.Please listen to this. Unlike some episodes of the Albert Mohler program, the people who call in to share their thoughts actually have worthwhile comments and suggestions to make.

I recommend regularly listening to the Albert Mohler program. American "Christian" youth need a wake up call, and this is exactly the sort of wake up call they need. I pray that God will fill me with this kind of passion for Him, His Word, and the people He is calling to Himself.

If you are not a young person, don't let that stop you from watching/listening to this sermon. All American church-goers need to hear this.

Author: Paul Washer
Audio and Video: http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=sermonsspeaker&sermonID=52906154239
Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuabITeO4l8http://krohse.com/metoo/2007/06/sermon-to-youth-by-paul-washer-this.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Joshua Krohse)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23225492.post-2916191633624893279Tue, 19 Jun 2007 18:01:00 +00002008-04-18T16:49:42.890-05:00washerpreachingevangelismpastorPaul Washergospel"I Am Under Obligation" by Paul WasherAll pastors, teachers, and missionaries should listen to this message.
